Water color or as it is often called aquarelle painting is a wonderful medium that has been used from the most ancient of times long before any other mediums were invented. Originally, water soluble natural pigment were extracted from plants, flowers, herbs and colorful powders that were used in cosmetics of most old civilizations. Minerals such as lapis lazuli, was ground and processed to make the pigment ultramarine for use in frescoes and oil painting.
I personally love to work in watercolors especially for quick sketches outdoors.
You can see in my gallery some examples of my watercolor sketches of the café theme. I love watching people as they sit around a table in all kinds of poses with great variations in their facial expressions . On many occasions I had a chance to find someone close enough to get into the unique intricate expression of their face and sometimes this results in a very good portrait.
